Salsa music, is a popular genre that originates from the Latin American music and is known among Latinos. Salsa is diverse and incorporates multiple styles and variations; the term can even be used to describe many form of popular Cuban-derived music such as mambo or chachacha. Since its emergence in the mid-1960’s, this type of music genre has spread popularity worldwide attracting other cultures of different countries like Japan and Sweden.
Salsa’s structure is made up of a songlike first section followed by a longer second section featuring call and response vocals and instrumental improvisations over a repeated chordal pattern. It traditionally follows a 4/4 time signature.
