Rwanda

Rhanda.jpgRwanda is a republic in east central Africa. A small landlocked country that is bounded by Uganda on the north, Tanzania on the east, Burundi on the south and Lake Kivu and Democratic Republic of the Congo on the west . Kigali is the country’s largest and capital city. Rwanda’s land area covers about 26,338 sq km and is home to approximately 10.1 million people. This small republic holds the title “Land of a Thousand Hills” because of it’s fertile and hilly terrain. Rwanda became the first country in history to elect a majority female national legislature in 2008.

The country has three main seasons: a short dry season, a heavy rainy season and another dry period towards the end of the year. The republic is divided into five provinces and subdivided into thirty districts.

Denmark

denmark.jpgIt’s official name in Danish is Kongeriget Danmark but commonly known as Denmark, is a nation in the Scandinavian region of northwestern Europe. Denmark is the southernmost of the Nordic countries. The nation is a constitutional monarchy that follows a parliamentary system of government. A member of the European Union and is the founding member of NATO.

The nation observes a highly free market, has a capitalist economy and was ranked as the “happiest place in the world” based on standards of welfare, health and education. Denmark is a wealthy and modernized country where it’s citizens enjoy a very high standard living. It’s capital city is Copenhagen and it’s national language is Danish. Well known fairytale writer Hans Christian Anderson and religious philosopher Søren Kierkegaard are from Denmark.

Spain

spainflag.jpgSpain is located in southwestern Europe, bordering the Bay of Biscay, Mediterranean Sea, North Atlantic Ocean and the Pyrenees Mountains. It’s land is large and flat to dissected plateau surrounded by rugged hills. It’s capital city is Madrid. Spain is a well developed country and has been ranked 8th for the largest economy in the world.

Spain is popular for it’s diverse cultural heritage, influenced by many nations and people throughout it’s history. After Italy, Spain comes second to having the most number of UNESCO World Heritage Sites in the wold. Spain is also widely known for the Flamenco music and dance, bull fights and it’s beautiful beaches.

Germany

germany.jpgThe Federal Republic of Germany is a country in Central Europe, has sixteen states with Berlin as the largest and it’s capital city. Germany is a major industrialized country in Central Europe and has a long and rich culture but was only unified as a nation in 1871.

Germany places 3rd, after America and Japan, as world’s largest economy. The country is the leading producer of steel, iron, machinery and automobiles. Because of Germany’s location it is the melting pot of different people, cultures, armies and ideas. Some known personalities in history were Germans such as Albert Einstein, Max Planck, The Grimm Brothers, Immanuel Kant, Micheal Schumacher, Claudia Schiffer to name a few. Germany has been called as Das Land der Dichter und Denker (the land of poets and thinkers).

Columbia

Columbia is the 26th largest nation in the world and fourth largest in South America, it has also the third largest population in Latin American. Columbia’s capital and largest city is Bogotá. The Columbian society is divided into half, the upper and lower classes, with a huge and growing gap between the classes. Lineage, wealth and racial background continue to be a powerful determinant of class status.

Columbia continues to be a middle power being one of the largest manufacturers in South America. The country is known as a provider of exquisite lingerie and the largest producers of pop-up books. The country is also a major exporter of petroleum, coffee and manufactured goods.

Bolivia

bolivia.jpgNamed after Simón Bolívar, this landlocked country located in central South America is also known as Rooftop of the World because of it’s high elevation in the Andes Mountains. Officially Sucre is the country’s capital city however the seat of government is located in La Paz, which is also the world’s highest capital.

Tourists come and visit Bolivia to witness the magical scenery of the Andes and Lake Titicaca. Carnaval de Oruro is the most popular among the festivals that this country hosts and was proclaimed as among the first 19 Masterpieces of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO as of May 2001.

Faroe Islands

faroe_islands.jpgFaroe Islands are a group of autonomous provinces of the Kingdom of Denmark located in Northern Europe, between the Norwegian Sea and the north Atlantic Ocean about halfway between Norway and Iceland. Tórshavn is it’s capital and principal harbor. It consists of 18 islands of which 17 are inhabited; Streymoy, Eysturoy, Sudhuroy, Vágar, and Bordhoy are the most important among the islands.

The island’s topography is characterized by high escarpments and plateaus separated by deep chasms. Many of the islands are treeless due to continual high winds although sturdy conifers, maples and mountain ash have been planted in the island. The principal industry of Faroe are fishing, sheep raising and manufacturing of clothes. The island is also known for it’s active music scene and traditional Faroe cuisine which is mainly based on meat and potatoes and uses few fresh vegetables.

Bulgaria

bulgaria.jpgIt is the land of mountains, rivers and rolling plans, Bulgaria is located in southwestern Europe and it’s capital city is Sofia. Bulgaria is bounded by Norway in the west, Finland and Gulf of Bothnia in northeast, Baltic Sea in southeast and southwest by Kattegat straight. The location of this country has made it the center of many struggles in power, in fact Bulgaria was a major power during the Middle Ages. Currently, Bulgaria consists of 28 provinces and they are subdivided into 264 municipalities.

The Bulgarian-American scientist and inventor Peter Petroff invented the first digital watch and is best known for her work in NASA. The inventor of the first oral contraceptive pill, Carl Djerassi, has Bulgarian ancestry.

Italy

italy.jpgItaly is a boot shaped peninsula that is located on the northern shore of the Mediterranean Sea. It has been home to many European cultures, such as the Romans and Etruscans, which later on became the birthplace of the Renaissance movement. It ’s capital Rome has been the center of Western civilizations for centuries and is currently the seat of the Catholic Church. The whole of Italy including it’s towns and other cities have retained the artistic treasures and memorabilia of the country’s cultural heritage and legacy.

Italy offers both natural and cultural attractions to visitors, most of them visit the place to see ancient Greek and Roman ruins. A visit to rome is incomplete with visiting the museums and the Sistine Chapel in Vatican City, the ancient forum and the Colosseum.

Morocco

Situated in North Africa, the Kingdom of Morocco is the only African Country that is not a member of the African Union. The Arabic name of the country is Al Mamlakah al Maghrib īyah, meaning “the kingdom of the West.” Their King lives in Rabat, the capital of Morocco. The country is bordered by several worlds therefore making their culture, cuisine and the people diverse.

Travelers love the country for it’s subtropical climate paired with spectacular mountains and scenery. Aside from these, the country is also home to stunning beaches and rivers. Tourism contributes a lot to the country’s economy which is also based largely on agriculture
